Lonesome George

Have any of you felt lonely? I bet some of you have. But, don't feel down, just stop and think about George...
Lonesome George is the last know individual of the Pinta Island Tortoise, a subspecies of the Galapagos tortoise.
Lonesome George

George was first seen on the island of Pinta on 1 December 1971 by American Joseph Vagvolgyi. The island's vegetation had been devastated by introduced feral goats, and the population had been reduced to a single individual, George. Relocated for his safety to the Charles Darwin Research Station, George was penned with two females of a different subspecies, but although eggs have been produced, none has hatched.

George is estimated to be 60–90 years of age, and is in good health. A prolonged effort to exterminate goats introduced to Pinta is now complete and the vegetation of the island is starting to return to its former state.
There is a reward of $10,000 for the discovery of a Pinta female.

Isn't it sad to know that only George is left? What will happen if his time is up and nothing can be done to save this species? Will he have to join the Dodo Birds? Or can we do something? Is it too late?

Our Thoughts About the Video 'Six Degrees Could Change The World'

Let us reflect and share our thoughts and feelings about watching this video 'Six Degrees Could Change The World'.

What can we do now so that we can stop such changes to continue to take place so that we can save not just ourselves but our future generations and most importantly, our precious Mother Earth?

A letter of sadness from our beloved Mother Earth

Dear Children,
I am weeping my hearts out as I fear that I cannot stand strong for much longer.
We are not too late to stop this illness! All you have to do is support me and play your part, save water, save electricity, save the air, save the animals, save me, save yourself...
Plant more trees, to breathe in fresh air.
Ride a bicycle to school, to live with healthy lungs.
Do not smoke, to heal my heart.
Do not poach, to make me smile over you.
Do not waste, to see the trees living longer.
All I have left to say is good luck in saving my health for the future generations to live peacefully in a fresh and clean world...
Love,
Mother Earth

Look at this heartbreaking picture!
What is happening? What is the cause of this serious problem?

What harmful effects are caused by the melting of all the massive amounts of ice?

As you all can see, the ice is all melting and as a result water is formed.

Lots of water. As we all know, when we pollute the air, all the "waste air" will drift up and block all sunlight from exiting the Ozone layer. As a result, the sunlight has to stay and what happens? The enormous chunks of ice in the North and South Pole melt and water is formed. Thus, floods will occur.

What do all of you think can be done to prevent this serious situation from getting worse?

Best Regards,

Something to reflect on

Hello everyone!
The exams are over and most of you should all be very happy, right?
Well, let us use this time to reflect on the global warming situation...
What do all of you think would happen if this global warming situation worsens?
Will floods occur? Will animals be wiped out? Or will NOTHING happen?
We should not take global warming lightly as it is very serious!
Please, do comment on what might happen!
Best Regards,

Air Pollution

I guess that all of you know what is water pollution, acidic rain and so on if you look at the other posts in our blog. But do you know what is Air pollution? Basically, you would think that air pollution is just air that we pollute. But do you know? There is much more than that for Air pollution. Do you know how air pollution is caused? If you have read about Acid rain, you would know a bit about air pollution. But, in detail, how is air pollution caused? What are the effects of air pollution? What must we do to prevent air pollution?
Could you give us some ideas on how air pollution is caused?
Could you also give some ideas on the effects of air pollution?
Last but not least, share with us your solutions to air pollution...
Thank you very much!

Water Pollution

Hey guys!
Thank you alot for supporting our blog and posting your comments.
Anyway, do all of you know what is water pollution? If you do not know, please do read on!
Factories, ships, human beings and many other minor problems cause water pollution.
When factories dump waste into the sea or and water bodies, they are actually polluting the water. When ships spill oil, they are also polluting the water. When WE, human beings litter, we pollute water. How? You may ask, well, when we litter and rain falls, the rain can "sweep" the litter into nearby water bodies. Littering directly into water bodies is worse.

Example, when you throw a plastic bag into the water, you might think, what can a plastic bag do anyway? Like the phrase goes, a gigantic problems start from a tiny choice... What if a dolphin sees the plastic bag, thinks it is a jellyfish. YUM! It gobbles the plastic bag up, the plastic bag can't be swallowed, it gets stuck in the dolphins throat and the dolphin cant't breathe and in a few minutes, it would die. See what I mean?

Could you suggest another way on how we actually pollute water???
